Hotel Pironi is located in the historic centre of Cannobio. It is a charming village that has managed to preserve its rich architectural-historical heritage as well as its natural lake and mountain setting, is located on the magnificent shores of Lake Maggiore, a short distance from the Swiss border.
A maze of narrow lanes opening onto numerous squares peering out over the sparkling lake, as if seeking relief from the shade of the mountains rising along an enchanted valley at its back: this is the ancient village of Cannobio. Attentive visitors may discover traces of the Roman and Medieval era as well as the nineteenth century. A wealth of historical treasures is in fact hidden amongst the cobbled lanes, the frescoes decorating the massive doorways to the houses and the formal parade of buildings along the lakefront. |

Coming by Plane+Car from Malpensa Airport
Take the A8 highway, continue on the A26 highway in direction Gravellona Toce, exit at Baveno/Stresa. Take the S33 "Del Sempione" following "Switzerland" signs. Continue straight ahead on the SS34 ("Del Lago Maggiore")up to Cannobio. Entering the village you will find a parking after the church on the right hand-side. Park the car and then take the street you find on the right leading to the historical centre of Cannobio. You will arrive at a crossroad. Turn right and you will find Hotel Pironi at number 35 on the left hand-side.
Coming by Plane+Car from Linate Airport
Bypass up towards Turin up to the A8 highway, continue on the A26 highway in direction Gravellona Toce, exit at Baveno. Take the S33 "Del Sempione" following "Switzerland" signs. Continue straight ahead on the SS34 ("Del Lago Maggiore") up to Cannobio. Entering the village you will find a parking after the church on the right hand-side. Park the car and then take the street you find on the right leading to the historical centre of Cannobio. You will arrive at a crossroad. Turn right and you will find Hotel Pironi at number 35 on the left hand-side.
Coming by Plane+Bus from Malpensa airport
You can reach the hotel taking the private shuttle service called "Alibus" which runs every 3 hours 7 days a week. Please note that the service must be booked in advance. Get off at Verbania Intra (last stop) and then take the VCO local bus towards the Italian border. Get off at the church and turn right taking Via Marconi. The hotel is at number 35 on the right hand side.
Coming by Car from Switzerland
Take the N 2 freeway from Basel to Lugano, through the tunnel of the Gottardo. Follow in direction Locarno and Ascona in Switzerland or direction Maccagno and Luino in Italy. Cross the Swiss border and take the SS34 towards Cannobio. Entering the village you will find a parking on the left hand-side. Park there and then take the street you find on the right leading to the historical centre of Cannobio. You will arrive at a crossroad. Turn right and you will find Hotel Pironi at number 35 on the left hand-side.
Coming by Train
The nearest railway stations are "Verbania Fondotoce" (Italy) and "Locarno" (Switzerland). From both railway stations you can reach Cannobio by taxi.
Coming by Boat
Cannobio is served by the Lake Maggiore Ferryboats. Ghiffa, Luino, Oggebbio, Cannero, are all linked by this convenient boat service. |
