The charm of these really ancient villages has to do with the surroundings: Garmisch-Partenkirchen is placed in a wide valley enclosed by the Wetterstein mountains, only 1 hour by car from Munich. This section of the Bavarian Alps comprises the highest point in Germany, the Zugpitze (2.962 metres), which you can easily reach on private trains leaving from the train station. |
The Quality Hotel Königshof was built in 1980 and was renovated for the last time in 2003: among its services, it has conference rooms, a solarium and a sauna. It offers 91 rooms, either double chambers or suites featuring a living area. They all have breathtaking views from the windows and the balconies at some of them, apart from heating and connection to internet. |
Garmisch-Partenkirchen can be enjoyed both in summer and winter: on warm days, you can visit any of the 5 paradisiacal lakes in a range of 5 kilometres, or the fairy tale-like castles of King Ludwif II, the Neuschwanstein and the Hohen Schwanstein; in winter, you can ski, play ice hockey or try the famous "curling", among other activities in the snow. |
