Villa Valania is located within the Cancano Valley. Going through Valtellina you will pass through Sondrio (the capital city of the province), Tirano, Grosio and Sondalo and will continue to go up as high as 1225 meters above sea level, until you reach a point where a large valley opens up before you. In this magnificent location, you meet Bormio, situated close to Passo dello Stelvio and surrounded by the peaks of the Gruppo Ortles and Cevedale and by Reit mountain. Today, the ancient center of Bormio, which dates back to the 14th-15th centuries, is the heart of the largest ski circuit of the valley as well as the starting point for excursionists and climbers on their way to exploring the nearby Alpine mountain peaks. Stelvio National Park covers the largest extension of territory in Europe and the park includes the Cancāno Valley with its lakes and its famous dams. |
By Car
From Milan: Take the 'Tangenziale Nord' by-pass and get off at the Cinisello exit; follow the motorway for Lecco until you reach Colico; then take the motorway SS 38 for Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio and Valdidentro.
From Brescia: Take the highway A4 and get off at the Brescia Ovest exit going in the direction of Iseo Lake: take the motorway SS 42 Breno, Edolo; then pick up the SS 39 for Aprica, Tirano; and then get on the SS 38 for Bormio and Valdidentro.
From Switzerland: From Zernez, go in the direction of La Drossa - Tunnel "Munt la Schera" Drossa (toll road, open all year round; on Monday from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; all other days open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Go to Livigno, then follow directions to Valdidentro.
